Magic Learning Series
“Education is not the filling of a bucket, but the
lighting of a fire.” WB Yeats
Chateau’s educational enrichment classes, the “Magic
Learning Series” — Bringing Magic to Learning,
are currently available for students, ages four to twelve. The
current series includes; Magic Reading,
Magic Math and Magic Chess.
Class curriculums are unique and innovative, always based on
making learning fun as well as educational. Students achieve
their learning goals in this environment, as they are engaged
in and entertained by the curriculum.
Magic Reading
”The whole world opened to me when I learned to read.”
Mary McLeod Bethune
“This
has been a wonderful way for Katy
to prepare to begin school again
next week. She had a great time
every day and is very proud that
she can now write CAT.” (more)
As our tutoring program progressed, we saw a strong need to
provide small group reading classes. “Magic Reading”
was created to help students learn to read, have fun in the
process, and enjoy the experience with other students their
own age. We developed a reading program based on game play in
a small group setting, where students would accelerate their
reading achievement, while having fun at the same time. The
environment of “Magic Reading” was also developed
to promote a love of reading, both at school and at home. Students
are encouraged to read a variety of children’s literature,
with incentive based goal setting. To further their motivation
to read, we added a “children’s book club”
to our reading program. Periodically, we hold a “book
club” with treats and hands-on projects based on a children’s
book. This experience celebrates the joy of reading!
“Magic Reading”, as well as the whole “Magic
Learning Series”, helps to build excitement in learning
and guides students to see the real world implications for
what they are doing and who they can become!

Magic Math
“It is the supreme art of the
teacher to awaken joy in creative
expression and knowledge.” Albert
Einstein
“Both
of my kids loved it! My son (a 3rd
grader) was not too pleased that
I had signed him up without asking
(oops I forgot) but when I picked
him up he wanted to call his Dad
right away at work to tell him about
his “cool” math class!!”

For many students, the subject of math can be one of the biggest
academic obstacles to overcome. The abstract nature of mathematical
principles is often hard to grasp, making learning difficult.
To combat this Chateau Educational Enterprises, Inc. has developed
Magic Math. Our goal for “Magic Math” is to open
children’s minds to the possibilities in the world of
mathematics. Students will gain an advantage through exposure
to a variety of mathematical topics and will develop confidence
in their abilities. We build excitement by tapping into the
students’ interests through integrating many different
subject areas and teaching to the variety of unique learning
styles that the children possess. We encourage creative and
logical thinking in our students using fun projects, games,
puzzles, riddles, and mind-bending challenges. We strive to
encourage a life-long love of mathematics.
Some of our Magic Math themes include:
- Medieval Math
- Geometry - Origami and Tangrams
- Pirates of the Mathibbean
- Skyscraper Math
- Mystery Math
- Magical Money Math

Magic Chess
“Excellence is the new forever.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Learning the game of chess has been shown to increase students’
critical thinking skills. It enhances memory, recognition of
patterns, logic, awareness and analysis. Studies link chess
to an increase in math problem solving skills and mathematical
understanding. Chess has also been shown to build spatial abilities
as well as improve verbal and reading skills.
In Magic Chess beginning players start with the basics and move
up from there. The more advanced players work on higher level
chess strategies. Students are exposed to various tactics, and
they are given an opportunity to apply these skills in real
game play situations with other students in the class.
